Episode VII has obviously broken many records as it bulls its way to the 2 billion dollar mark world wide. With the success of the first film in the new trilogy, it’s only natural that our minds begin to slowly drift towards the next installment in the group. Luckily for us, John Boyega (Finn) has offered us a little insight into the next adventure for the future Star Wars cast.
Boyega in a recent interview with Vogue Magazine spoke about his excitement for the direction of the Star Wars franchise and his relief in being able to speak about events that transpired in ‘The Force Awakens.’ With that being said, he also let on jokingly that the relief will be short lived with the filming of Episode VIII to begin soon and he will have to go back to being tight lipped.
In his interview, Boyega had this to say:
“Yes, at last! Han Solo dies, OK? He dies. Phew. It feels good. But now, we just starting work on Star Wars VIII, the next film, so I’m back to keeping secrets again.”
Director Rian Johnson has been attached to Star Wars for quite some time. He has been working with Abrams and LucasFilm to make sure the threads connect smoothly between films. Rumor has it that he’s even shot scenes as far back as September.
Daisy Ridley has had nothing but praise for the new script for Episode VIII. According to Boyega:
“It’s great. Much darker, but we’re very excited.”
As for the future of Finn, here’s what Boyega had to say:
“No, for this film we really just took it scene by scene, there wasn’t a huge regime. My part in the next film will be much more physical so I might be in the gym a bit more.”

Bob Iger: “I think we’re gonna be a little bit more careful about volume and timing”
“I made the timing decision, and as I look back, I think the mistake that I made, I take the blame, was a little too much, too fast. You can expect some slowdown, but that doesn’t mean we’re not gonna make films. J.J. (Abrams) is busy making (Episode) IX. We have creative entities, including (Game of Thrones creators David) Benioff and (D.B.) Weiss, who are developing Star Wars sagas of their own, which we haven’t been specific about. And we are just at the point where we’re gonna start making decisions about what comes next after J.J.’s. But I think we’re gonna be a little bit more careful about volume and timing. And the buck stops here on that.” -Bob Iger (Disney CEO)
