Director Ridley Scott is coming off of a great year with several nominations for his most recent film ‘The Martian,’ including best picture, best actor (Matt Damon) and best adapted screenplay. Scott has now been called upon to return to the franchise that put his name on the map in Hollywood…  “Aliens”

Since Neil Blomkamp’s proposed ‘Aliens 5’ has been scrapped, Scott has begun work on the next installment.  Scott stated he wants to use a blend of sci-fi and horror this time around to be more extreme, saying:

“That’s why I’m doing it. I’m going to do pretty Hard R.”

During a backstage interview after the Golden Globes Scott spoke on his upcoming project, which will begin filming soon in Australia.  Scott was asked how he would would blend the horror to ‘Alien: Covenant:

“I always remember walking down the edge in Saint Louis when we were previewing [Alien]. I couldn’t sit through the film one more time. I walked down the edge into the kitchen scene when John Hurt started to bring up his breakfast. That moment, I realized how pretty scary the film was… I felt a sense of responsibility that I had gone too far because it was extreme. I’m going to try and do that again this year, but much worse.”

It would appear that Ridley Scott is planning to push the boundaries of the franchise that made him famous.  Only time will tell if this new “horror” filled Aliens will pull movie goers minds away from 2012’s ‘Prometheus,’ which left a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of fans of the Aliens franchise.

Plot Details Revealed For A New “Power Rangers” Reboot

Published

on

Paramount has revealed that a “Power Rangers” reboot is in the works. ‘The End of the F—ing World’ creator Jonathan Entwistle is in talks to direct. The movie will follow an all new story, with no connection to the 2017 film. The screenplay is being penned by Patrick Burleigh, [‘Peter Rabbit,’ and ‘The Runnaway.’]

The upcoming reboot will reportedly see the new Power Rangers time travel to the 90’s and have to find their way back to the current timeline. The plot also details the possibility of the original rangers returning.

While information is scarce, at least one original ranger has taken to social media too throw his hat in the ring for the original team to return.

Jason David Frank  has had multiple roles throughout the history of the Power Rangers. Most notably, (Tommy Oliver) the green ranger and white ranger. Frank, hoping to fuel his fan base, has asked that old and new fans of the rangers, reach out to Paramount and lobby for the return of the original cast to the upcoming feature film.

The 2017 movie, starring Bryan Cranston, Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Bill Hader and Naomi Scott was liked by Power Rangers fans, but also met with harsh criticism which led the film to a dismal $142 mil box-office take, on a $105 mil budget.
