The idea of a Voltron movie has been being tossed around Hollywood for years. Who knows if they will ever get this film rolling. But this is one movie that needs to be made. Voltron is the story of a team of astronauts chosen to pilot individual robotic lions, that when needed have the ability to come together and form Voltron, to save the universe.
ThunderCats is another film that has made several attempts to get off the ground, but sputtered and failed. The studio released a cgi short back in 2011(see here) that didn’t gain much traction and the cats fell to the wayside. This for sure could be an amazing movie with the right budget and director. Almost like a lord of the rings mixed with powerful Cats.
‘Masters of The Universe’ has been in development for quite some time. There have been a few director changes along with many script re-writes. Though it would appear that the movie is making traction, releasing a new title image and a concept image of Battle Cat.
Now of course we all know there was a horrendous movie released in 2009 called ‘Dragonball Evolution,’ that I won’t even begin to get into. But the movie basically used the names of characters from the cartoon series and proceeded to followed its own fictional story line, which had minimal to do with the actual series of Dragonball. As one of my favorite action cartoons of all-time, this is one we need to have re-made. And re-made into the epicness that I know Hollywood can deliver.
And of course the Japanese anime ‘Akira.’ Which again like many of these films, has been speculated for many years. Gaining traction, then falling off the radar. This film has even gone as far as to have Leonardo DiCaprio attached. ‘Akira’ has been called one of, if not the greatest Anime movie of all time.
