Independence Day: Resurgence

Obviously there has been plenty of hype for all the upcoming superhero films, ‘Deadpool‘, ‘Batman v Superman‘, ‘TMNT 2‘, ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘… But one film that looks as promising as the rest, is the much anticipated sequel to one of the highest grossing films of all-time, ‘Independence Day.’

The original film of course featured the young Will Smith, Vivica Fox, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman.  It seems that the majority of the cast will be returning for the second installment.  Will Smith obviously had other obligations, as he will be playing Deadshot in the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad.’ But obviously the show must go on.  At first thought, this film couldn’t go on without it’s star character.  But after seeing the trailers, this movie looks like it plans to return to blockbuster form as it did back in 1996.

This film plans to continue based on the same amount of time that has past in the real world, 20 years.  The film is based on the idea that it has been twenty years since the aliens attacked and were defeated.  And their return has been anticipated.  We have adapted their technology along side our own, but failed to remember that the aliens have had twenty years to advance also.
