San Diego Comic-Con was the gift that kept on giving this past weekend. So many rumors and confirmed rumors have been brought to light for fans of DCEU, Marvel and more. One of said rumors has been confirmed by MCU President Kevin Feige, which now has fans very excited for what’s to come.
Earlier confirmed reports, have The Avengers estranged leader Nick Fury along for the ride in ‘Captain Marvel.’ The story will take place in the 90’s and feature a younger Fury, who will have the use of both eyes. Yet the big news comes in the form of what the story will be about.
In a recent interview with IGN, Kevin Feige spoke about Marvel’s upcoming project:
“Well we really wanted, we thought it would be fun to, there’s an entire section of our comics that deal with the Kree-Skrull War and we haven’t tapped into that at all. And we thought that would be an amazing, huge portion of mythology to belong to Captain Marvel.”
It sounds like the Kree-Skrull War will be the foundation for the upcoming film.
The “Kree-Skrull War” is notable for its cosmic scope of interstellar warfare, enormous cast of characters, use of metaphor and allegory (for instance, to Joseph McCarthy and HUAC), and the introduction of the Vision–Scarlet Witchromance, which became an ongoing theme for the characters (and by default the Avengers) for years to come. The “Kree-Skrull War” is considered by critics to be a highlight of its era, and is the culmination of a string of notable Thomas–Adams collaborations from this period, which began with their run on X-Men in 1969.
