CASEY AFFLECK HAD FANS WORRIED BEN WAS DONE WITH BATMAN

Published

Casey Affleck recently had fans of his brother Ben Affleck’s batman worried. In a recent interview with WEEI’s “Dale & Holley With Keefe”, he contradicted what his brother had recently stated about his future as the dark knight. Casey told the guys:

“I think he was an OK Batman,” Casey, 42, joked on WEEI’s “Dale & Holley With Keefe” radio show on Tuesday before saying, “He was great … He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there. But he’s not going to do that movie [“The Batman”], I don’t think, sorry to say.”

Which sent sent the internet in a frenzy. Paring concerns that the ‘Justice League’ film is in trouble, only added fuel to the fire. But as it turns out, he was only kidding. As the hosts looked at Casey with concerned faces, he follow up with:

“Is that breaking news? I was just kind of making that up.”

So for now, we can all breathe a sigh of relief and hang our hats on Ben’s most recent statement about the state of his portrayal of The Dark Knight:

“Let me be very clear: I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest f—king part in any universe, DC, Marvel,” Affleck told fans at San Diego Comic-Con, adding that several Warner Bros. executives specifically told him they wanted him to stay on, gushing, “I’m so thrilled to do it.”

Matt Reeves “THE BATMAN” Rumors, News, & More

The rumor mill is swirling about Matt Reeves upcoming Batman project. Last year Director Reeves sat down and explained his take on The Dark Knight:

“One of the reasons I was drawn to it is I had a similar fascination to Batman when I was younger that I had with the Apes series, which I was obsessed with. I see a parallel emotionally between Caesar and Batman, in that they’re both characters who are tortured and trying to sort of grapple within themselves to find the way to do the right thing in a very imperfect and, to some degree, corrupt world. It’s really that emotionality that I’m interested in.

“In all of my films, what I try to do, in an almost Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become the character, and you emphasize with that point of view. I think there’s a chance to do an almost noir-driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way, that hopefully is going to connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside of his heart.”
