According to multiple sources, Director/Producer Martin Scorsese [‘Goodfellas,’ ‘Casino,’ ‘The Departed,’ ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’ To name a few, has been confirmed to be in development of a “Joker Movie” origin story. Reports have confirmed, the story will take place outside the realm of the newly created DCEU. It will focus on an upcoming Joker, set to a 1980’s backdrop and won’t include the newest incarnation of Joker featured in ‘Suicide Squad,’ played by Jared Leto.

The film will take place under a new unannounced Warner Bros. umbrella and will more than likely focus on the uprising of a young Joker and his journey to become “The Clown Prince of Gotham.” The film has tapped Todd Phillips to Direct

“The intention is to make a gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime film set in early-80s Gotham City that isn’t meant to feel like a DC movie as much as one of Scorsese’s films from that era, like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull or The King Of Comedy,”
