“Masters of the Universe,” a movie title that has been in production limbo for decades has once again had a jolt of life sent through it. Sony has recently gone on the offensive, to once again attempt to bring the Prince of Eternia back to theaters. Masters of the Universe has seen its share of rumored directors, actors and plot lines, even once having Brad Pitt rumored to star as “The most powerful man in the universe.”

Sony is recently courting David S. Goyer, most notably know for writing Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy and recently ‘Man of Steel.’ Rumor has it, Goyer has already been working on a script for Mattel’s Julia Pistor and David Voss who are acting as co-executive producers with additional project oversight from Sony’s Matthew Millam.

Sony plans to have Goyer also direct the film which will be the first of a trilogy, expected to follow Prince Adam’s mystical transformation into He-man. The film is said to be a gritty take on the Mattel classic and is expected to hit theaters December 18, 2019.
