‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ opened to an impressive $45 mil domestic [Thursday], second only to it’s recent predecessor ‘The Force Awakens’ which brought home an astonishing $57 mil [Thursday]. ‘The Last Jedi’ took home even more impressive honors when it raked in the second highest all-time domestic opening day with $104.8 mil behind guess who… ‘The Force Awakens,’ who closed out its domestic opening day with $119 mil.
‘The Last Jedi’ has continued to skyrocket. Boasting, $220 mil opening, even after mixed reviews from critics and fans.
Two years ago, ‘The Force Awakens’ hit a weekend opening of $247.966 mil and is the only movie to best its next installment in domestic take.
‘The Last Jedi’ hasn’t begun to slow down. Rian Johnson’s latest film has just crossed $573.7 mil worldwide in not even a full week’s time. With that being said, ‘The Last Jedi’ still has a steep hill to climb, to catch J.J. Abrams, ‘The Force Awakens.’ Which is currently sitting over $2 billion in worldwide take.
