J.J. Abrams Explains Why He Chose “The Rise of Skywalker” As Title For ‘Episode IX’

Published

on

Star Wars: Episode IX’ Director J.J. Abrams has been tight lipped about the upcoming conclusion to the “Skywalker saga.” After the release of the first teaser trailer, fans have been begun speculation as to what we can expect from the final installment. Abrams, without giving too much away, sat down and tried to explain his decision for going with the title, “THE RISE OF SKYWALKER”

****POTENTIAL SPOILERS****

“The title feels like it’s the right title for this movie, and I know that it’s provocative and asks a bunch of questions. But I think when you see the movie, you’ll see how it’s intended, what it means. But in the flow of titles, this movie had a very weird responsibility. It had to be the end of not just three movies, but nine movies, and the idea of having to incorporate the stories that have come before strangely is the story of the movie. Which is to say it’s the characters in the film inheriting everything that’s come before in previous generations, whether it’s sins of the father, whether it’s the wisdom that they’ve acquired. And the question is this new generation, are they up to the task, can they stand up to what they have to? And so in a way, I feel like we coming into this movie have inherited a lot, and the question is can we do it? And that question we ask ourselves every day.”

It sounds all but confirmed that ‘Episode IX‘ will be a movie about tying up loose ends. And quite possibly straightening out continuity from ‘The Last Jedi.’

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters December 20, 2019. Starring: Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac.

Mark Ruffalo Would Like To See “Hulk vs Wolverine” In The MCU

Published

on

With MCU films planned out far into the future, it would appear that top Marvel Executives are still trying to piece together the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and how it all will fit together. It has been rumored that the likes of Doctor Doom and Galactus will be making there presence known as the next “big bad’s” of the MCU.

With the recent Marvel/Fox merger, things have been shaken up a bit. The merger will allow Fox properties such as X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool and others to appear along side the Avengers. More than likely, Marvel will take a page out of DC’s newly found formula and produce some “Stand-alone” films. One film in particular that would be interesting, is a live action, “Hulk vs Wolverine.” How this would work continuity wise is beyond me. Considering, the last time we saw “MCU Hulk,” he had sacrificed his arm and a lot of his strength to wield the infinity gauntlet and wish all of Thanos’s victims back to life. Nevertheless, it would appear that Mark Ruffalo would still love to see Hulk return. He recently shared a conversation he had with Marvel head, Kevin Feige.

He said: “Kevin Feige just asked me last week if I had any more ideas or stories for the Hulk, and I said yeah, I think there’s still some stories to tell. And he said, ‘Well why don’t you come in and tell me about them and we’ll see if we can find a place for you in the Marvel universe?’”

Ruffalo added: “Hulk vs. Wolverine, I’d like to see that. Hulk vs. Wolverine.”

We more than likely won’t see Hugh Jackman return to battle Hulk in the film, but it would still be fun to see two relatively indestructible characters battle it out on screen. What do you think, would you like to see Hulk return to battle Logan? Or would you rather see Hulk follow a different storyline.
