*UPDATE* ‘John Wick 3’ Director Claims The Wachowskis Are Working On ‘Matrix 4’

It’s time for Matrix fans to get a little more excited! A Matrix movie of some capacity has been rumored for quite some time now and the Wachowskis position on making another Matrix film has changed over the years. Early reports suggested we would never get to see another Matrix film helmed by the duo. More current reports even suggest we would see a reboot of sorts or an off shoot to the main story line. But now, in a recent interview with Yahoo Movies UK, ‘John Wick 3’ Director Chad Stahelski confirmed the Wachowskis are in fact, working on ‘Matrix 4.’

“I’m super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they’re expanding what we all loved,” Stahelski told Yahoo Movies. “And if it’s anywhere near the level of what they’ve already done, it wouldn’t take more than a call to go, ‘Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy’ and I would probably go and get hit by a car.”

Stahelski was asked if the Wachowskis would be directing the new film:

“I’m not sure of the overall,” Stahelski replied. “I’m not sure if Lana is.”

Keanu Reeves and Stahelski met on the set of the original Matrix trilogy. Stahelski was a stunt double for Reeves. The two have maintained a friendship for over twenty years. Reeves has been quoted saying, he would only be involved in another Matrix project if the Wachowskis were involved.

“They would have to write it and direct it. And then we’d see what the story is, but yeah, I dunno, that’d be weird, but why not?”

Reeves went on further to explain how he would feel about returning to his role as Neo in the matrix:

“That would be a gift,” Keanu said. “I wouldn’t say no to that. Yeah.”

Keanu was also asked how he would approach such an iconic role twenty years later:

“I think when you get to revisit a story and continue to tell a story, you’re bringing in the past and the work that you’ve done.”

“So for me, it’s about placing the emotional state of where you are into who the character is. How do they feel? How do they think? And then putting on the suit if the costume really becomes the exterior that you fill in.”

*UPDATE*

Unfortunately, the comments made by John Wick 3 Director Chad Stahelski were all based on a hypothetical scenario. If the Wachowskis were to write and direct another matrix film, he would love to be involved.
