“Cinematic achievement on a high level.”
Director Todd Phillips has gone on the record stating, his film is going to piss off hardcore comic book fans. The upcoming ‘Joker’ movie will not follow any comic book plot lines or continuity for the villain, and will in fact be its very own stand alone film. With that being said, the movie is already garnering praise from select audiences. Cameron Bailey, co-head and artistic director of the Toronto International Film Festival, went on record with Toronto Sun, hailing the film as “Cinematic achievement on a high level.” Bailey continued on, saying:
“First of all it’s terrific. So it should play on our largest stage. But it’s a really original take on comic book movies and on the Joker character in particular. It’s not based on an existing story, it has one of the greatest actors in modern cinema, Joaquin Phoenix, in the lead, and Robert De Niro is in it as well, one of the best actors that has ever lived.”
Bailey, also went on to say, the film is “Very cinematic,” for a low budget feature.
“Has an interesting tone and approach to it. It’s set in the late ’70s, early ’80s and it feels like it was made then. It’s gritty in its look, it has references to Martin Scorsese’s filmmaking and it feels like a cinematic achievement on a high level. Although it’s working with very populist material, it has great ambition. That’s why it’s a Gala.”

Justice Prevails: The Voice of The Fans Bring “Release The Snyder Cut”
Yesterday, the internet exploded with news that #ReleaseTheSnyderCut was no longer a myth or an urban legend, but in fact happening. Zack Snyder confirmed during a ‘Justice League’ Vero watch party that HBO Max would be releasing a fully Zack Snyder produced version of 2017’s ‘Justice League.’
Snyder, who was the original director of the JL film, was forced to leave the project abruptly, due to a family tragedy. Warner Bros. execs immediately turned to top Marvel producer Joss Whedon to finish the project. Fans were divided on the outcome of ‘Justice League.’ With a 40% Rotten score and 71% audience score, JL managed to earn $657.9mil at the box-office, which by today’s standards is a poor showing.
Early reports suggest, Warner Bros. and HBO Max will be shelling out an additional $20-30mil for Snyder to complete HIS vision for JL and bring it to HBO streaming in 2021. Other reports suggest, ‘Zack Snyder’s: Justice League’ will have a four plus hour runtime. To many, this suggests, the movie will be broken up in to a four part series. Snyder has reached out to cast members, asking some of them to return for re-shoots and voice overs. Ray fisher (Victor Stone/Cyborg) was the first to receive a call from Snyder.
“He was like, ‘You’re kidding me, right?'”
Snyder went on to talk about his film and what fans can expect from his version of Justice League:
“It will be an entirely new thing, and, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie,” he said.
“You probably saw one-fourth of what I did.”
Some of the JL cast have reacted online to the news of Snyder’s vision returning to the screen. Take a look below at the reactions.
