Matt Reeves Drops First Look | Batsuit Test From ‘The Batman’

Published

on

Fans have been waiting weeks since filming began for Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman,’ for a quick glance at the new batsuit. Now we have our first official look at what Robert Pattinson will look like dawning the cape and cowl of the dark knight. We also get our first listen at the musical tone we can expect from the upcoming film, which to no surprise, is dark and ominous. Pattinson would like to see Batman receive an R-Rating saying that it would free his character up to do more:

“The only thing that’s more complicated is the rating. As soon as you make something an R-rated movie, you’re freed up to do so much stuff. In terms of the character itself, I want to push it as far as it possibly can go. And I think Matt Reeves does as well. You can do crazy stuff with that part.”

Director Matt Reeves Drops Our Fist Look At The New Batmobile

“It’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation”

In the modern era of cinema, the internet is no stranger to leaks and set photos. Most Directors are faced with the difficult challenge of deciding when and when not to release official photos. Recently, an onslaught of set photos have hit the web, showing the newly re-designed batman look, along with a glimpse of the “Batcycle” and possibly a look at catwoman.

Today, Matt Reeves decided to break the internet, giving us our first look at the new batmobile. Reeves describes ‘The Batman’ as a noir style film, told squarely on the shoulders of the dark knight. It would appear that Reeves is going with a truly grounded approach to the character. A “Year two” Batman, taking on Gotham’s criminal underworld, with a rogues gallery of villains.

“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale,” he said. “It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”

‘The Batman’ hits theaters June 25, 2021 | Stars: Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Paul Dano, Peter Sarsgaard, Jeffrey Wright

‘The Batman’ Set Photos Have Surfaced Online

Published

on

With ‘The Batman’ set to being filming soon, we have received our first little tidbit as to what the city of Gotham will entail. Recent set photos have been making the rounds over the last 24 hours, giving us a glimpse of Gotham City Police vehicles. Batman fans have been clamoring for the smallest bit of news since the cast announcements. We know that recently, Robert Pattinson has spoken about the task of putting on the cape and cowl, but also the power he feels after getting suited up.

“It’s maybe the craziest thing I’ve ever done in terms of movie stuff,” Pattinson says. “I put it on. I remember saying to Matt, ‘It does feel quite transformative!’ He was like, ‘I would hope it does! You’re literally in the Batsuit.’”

“You do feel very powerful immediately,” Pattinson said. “And it’s pretty astonishing, something that is incredibly difficult to get into, so the ritual of getting into it is pretty humiliating. You’ve got five people trying to shove you into something. Once you’ve got it on, it’s like, ‘Yeah, I feel strong, I feel tough, even though I had to have someone squeezing my butt cheeks into the legs.”

“You’re trying to think of the way to balance, how to bring something new to it and not want to scare people off,” Pattinson sid. “And work in the confines of the costume.”

While ‘The Batman’ will begin filming in London, many fans are hoping to catch a glimpse of the new “Batsuit” and Pattinson’s “Bat-physique.” Many believe Pattinson will take a little from previously popular batmen, and bring that chemistry to the big screen.

‘The Batman’ stars: Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), Zoë Kravitz (Selina Kyle/Catwoman), Paul Dano (The Riddler), Colin Farrell (The Penguin) John Turturro (Carmine Falcone) Jeffrey Wright (Commissiner Gordon)

Production is set to begin January 13, 2020

Bruce Wayne Is Dead: The Unused ‘Joker’ Ending That Would Have Made For A Much Darker Film

Published

on

2019’s ‘Joker,’ which has now been nominated for multiple Golden Globes, including “Best Actor” and Best Motion Picture – Drama,” has continued to surprise fans. The film has garnered large success, recently surpassing the $1billion milestone at the box-office, on a relatively small production budget of $50-70 mil. While ‘Joker’ is said to be a one and done film, Joaquin Phoenix and Director Todd Phillips haven’t quite ruled out the possibility of a second installment. ‘Joker,’ is also expected to receive multiple nominations at the Academy Awards as well.

During a recent podcast of Fatman Beyond, Kevin Smith shared a little insider information about one alternate ending that could have pushed ‘Joker’ even further to the dark side. Smith had this to say:

So [Arthur’s] in the hospital and he laughs, chuckles. And the lady goes, ‘What’s so funny?'” Smith recalled. “And he says, ‘I was just thinking of something funny.’ What was supposed to happen was, you flashed back to the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne. And it was him killing Thomas and Martha Wayne. And [Bruce] was screaming and crying. And [Joker] turned to walk away, then he turned back, shrugged, and shot the kid. CREDITS.

This ending would have surely solidified any potential connection to Batman in a future sequel. But, what this tells us, is Todd Phillips wasn’t ready to completely throw away the idea of pitting a future matchup between Phoenix’s Joker with some incarnation of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Do you think this would have made for a better ending? Or do you like the connection that Phillips left, with Joker’s ideology being the catalysts that kills Martha/Thomas Wayne and births Batman?
