A Reddit user recently shared what appears to be a thorough description as to what we can expect from a  future ‘Avengers 4’ trailer. Of course like most fan theories this must be taken with a grain of salt. The description seems to hit on all the most popular fan theories circulating the internet right now. 2 things make this description slightly more believable than most.

1. The post was taken down almost just as fast as it was posted.

2. It seems like a lot of effort to go through, when we can expect a real trailer in just a matter of months.

Read below at your own risk of possible spoilers!

“We get a glimpse of the Battle of New York from 2012 Avengers. Loki is shown looking shocked and baffled as he is on top of the Stark tower. There is a flash of a be light as the camera pans back. (Cuts to black) Next we see the Wakandan throne with M’Baku at the helm. He’s surrounded by his new kingsguard. (A mix of the hill tribe and Dora Milaje). Shuri and Banner are seen working on a new project in the lab. Black Widow, in full gear, is in Hawkeye’s family home from Age of Ultron.  Basically everything is thrown all over the place and broken. Nat is studying some type of map with multiple photos and locations on it. A quick shot of Thanos is shown with a long sword, walking down an alleyway in New York City.  The next shot is a dark hooded figure with glowing eyes, aiming a bow and arrow before shooting towards the camera.”

“(1-2 visuals of the Quantum Realm) Scott Lang (no suit) is shown running through a park dodging explosions. (Shot of Space) Thor and Valkyrie are aboard a Kree ship. Thor says: “If the stories are true, you’re our universe’s last hope. If such a thing even exists anymore”. The next shot is an older, determined Tony Stark walking through the new SHIELD HQ’s (Avengers Facility in upstate New York). He’s in full SHIELD attire and carrying an orange briefcase. Banner (wearing spandex) is seen running from something, looking terrified. The next shot is Ant-Man appearing out of a flash of light and landing in a desolate place. We see it from his point of view from inside his helmet. He looks left to right and to his left again and says: “What in the-“.

“(Camera focuses on Vormir and its stars) Next, a shot of Rocket and Nebula modifying some new weapons in the lab. Rocket says “When can we try this bad boy out?” They both smile at eachother and fist-bump. We get our first glimpse of Iron Man in his red and gold nanotech armor. Hulk falls from the sky and lands in front of him. Thanos, in full armor, smiles. Hulk smiles back. The next shot is in Japan. War Machine, Nat, and Steve (in their full Avengers gear) are surrounded by The Yakuza. Hawkeye (Ronin) walks through everybody from behind them and approaches the Avengers. There’s an intense exchange of looks between Clint and Natasha (Next shot is at the Sanctum) Wong is communicating with Dr. Strange’s soul via portal. (Cuts to black) Grey haired Tony Stark and Ant-Man are in a post-apocalyptic NYC. The screen flashes back and forth multiple times through multiple scenes.”

“We see Captain Marvel floating with her fists on fire and her eyes lit up. Thanos in the soul stone with young Gamora screaming at him Loki and Thor fighting off Chitauri together. And Tony handing Steve a brand new shield in the Wakandan throne room. (Cuts back to Tony and Scott) Tony opens the orange briefcase as Scott hands him an illuminated bracelet. Tony asks: “How?… Is this even possible?” (Iron Man and Ant-Man are shown travelling through the Quantum Realm. Tony and Scott are back in the battle of New York from 2012. The final shot before the title reveal is an Infinity Stone disappearing from Thanos’ damaged gauntlet. He abruptly gets up and puts on his armor. His face goes from extremely infuriated to a menacing smile.”

Title reveal:

Avengers: Annihilation

Stinger:

“The Hulk is training at the new SHIELD facility with Black Widow and Steve. Steve notices that Hulk has been training non-stop as of late, so he asks why. Hulk responds in Banner’s normal voice with: “My rematch is coming real soon, I can feel it!”

Joaquin Phoenix Set To Return As The Joker In 2022

Joker [Warner Bros. Pictures]

According to new “Insider information,” Joaquin Phoenix has reportedly been offered $50M to reprise his role as Arthur Fleck, failed comedian turned clown prince of Gotham aka the Joker.

Phoenix had originally said, he felt that ‘Joker’ was a stand alone film that didn’t need sequels. Now, it sounds as if he is changing his tune. According to insiders, a script is currently in the works at Warner Bros. And Phoenix is thoroughly involved.

“Joaquin initially felt ‘Joker’ was a standalone movie. But he’s changed his tune now. He says he wants to play this character again, despite the controversies that came with the release last year. It’s still being negotiated but the scripts are being written and Joaquin is very engaged with it.”

Joaquin Phoenix [Academy Awards 2020]

‘Joker,’ was an anomaly in the comic book movie world of 2020. Bringing home the Golden Lion, Critics Choice, Screen Actors Guild Awards. Culminating with Joaquin Phoenix earning “Best Actor” at the Oscars.

With the 2021 and 2022 film slate rapidly filling, it would appear that Warner Bros. Is planning two more films. Hoping to release in 2022 and 2024.

“They plan to make two sequels in the next four years, with a long-term commitment to Joaquin and his Joker director Todd Phillips and producer Bradley Cooper. It’s all about getting Joaquin to accept the terms, and the biggest payday of his career by far.”

What do you think, should ‘Joker’ remain a standalone film?

Wonder Woman 1984 | Review

Published

on

DC films in recent years have been heavily criticized for being too dark and gritty but Wonder Woman 1984 is the complete opposite, it’s full of so much fun and colour and joy. In terms of the tone and feel of the film it’s very reminiscent of the Christopher Reeve Superman films. It’s a delight from start to finish despite the 151-minute runtime as it’s just pure entertainment and the sort of fun we need right now to see us through to the end of 2020.

Wonder Woman 1984 follows Diana Prince, AKA Wonder Woman, played excellently by Gal Gadot now living in the 1980s and working in a museum when a mysterious ancient artefact shows up that seems to grant people wishes. This dream-stone starts causing big problems when its powers begin to get abused by Diana’s colleague Barbara Minerva (Kristen Wiig) who comic fans will recognise as Wonder Woman villain ‘The Cheetah’. Barbara isn’t the only person who wants the stone as businessman Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) is after it too. Wonder Woman, with the help of Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) must stop the Cheetah and Max Lord before it gets too late.

“This world is not yet ready for all that you will do.”

The film opens with a great scene on Themyscira, the island home of the Amazons, with a young Diana taking part in the Amazon games. Straight away we get thrown back into the exciting world of Wonder Woman with a fast-paced action scene. The opening looks really amazing, particularly in an IMAX cinema, as Wonder Woman 1984 was partially filmed with IMAX cameras meaning you get to see more in certain scenes. As well as looking amazing, the whole film, and in particular the opening scene, sounds great too as Hans Zimmer’s booming score fills your ears. The film immediately has you hooked and it doesn’t let you go until the very end.

The opening scene is really good fun and it doesn’t stop there. Not long afterwards we get our first glimpse of Gal Gadot trying to stop some thugs robbing a jewellery store in a shopping mall and she gets a really glorious entrance as she takes down the bad guys with ease and we really see that Gal Gadot completely embodies that character of Wonder Woman.

“One day you will become all that you dream of and more.”

It’s interesting to look at how the two villains shape up in this film as one of the biggest problems I had with the previous Wonder Woman film was the villain. And so, are the villains in the sequel any better? Yes, although they’re still not perfect. Both of the villains do have some issues but Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal bring so much enthusiasm and charisma to their characters that you just about forget about their character flaws. Kristen Wiig’s Barbara does seem a little generic and we first meet her in a scene that really reminded me of Jamie Foxx’s Electro’s introduction in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as we see Barbara’s colleagues taking no notice of her and we can already begin to wonder how she might try and change things.

Pascal brings so much life and character to Maxwell Lord and it really is a joy to watch his face fill the screen, especially since a lot of us have been seeing him trapped behind a helmet recently in The Mandalorian. But Lord too does have some issues, particularly in the third act when things begin to get a little messy and some of his motivations seem a little unclear but I think Wiig and Pascal play their respective roles so well that it’s enough to see past these issues.

“Your time will come, Diana.  Everything will be different

As mentioned above, the villains can be a bit weak in places which makes the 3rd act a bit messier (although still much cleaner than the 3rd act of the first film) and some of the character’s motivations can be unclear in certain places but other than that, it’s a really good film. Despite being two and a half hours long, the time completely flies by as it’s just so much fun and because all the action set-pieces are so well done.

I really hope that after films like Shazam!, Birds of Prey and now Wonder Woman 1984  DC continue to make more bright, vibrant and colourful fun films, they just provide so much pleasure and exuberance to you when you watch them and that’s exactly what the world needs right now. Patty Jenkins has crafted another great film and Wonder Woman 1984 is full of plenty of scenes to keep both the Wonder Woman novices and experts entertained throughout.

Overall, Wonder Woman 1984 is a joyous thrill ride that’s even better than the first film. It’s so much fun and filled with lots of colour and plenty of enjoyment.

★★★★☆

Wonder Woman 1984 opens in UK cinemas on Wednesday December 16th
